What is the CFM®?
The Certified Facility Manager® (CFM®) is IFMA’s internationally recognized certification for experienced facility management professionals. It validates a professional’s ability to apply FM knowledge and judgment across the core areas of facility management, including operations, finance, risk, leadership, technology and project management.
Unlike a training certificate, the CFM is earned by meeting professional experience requirements and passing a comprehensive, scenario-based examination designed to assess how candidates apply what they know.
IFMA Caribbean offers instructor-led CFM® exam preparation and knowledge workshops, helping eligible candidates review the FM knowledge areas, work through practice questions and prepare to apply their experience effectively on exam day.
The CFM has been trusted by the profession for more than 30 years and is accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board.

Eligibility Requirements
All candidates for certification must meet all eligibility requirements in effect at the time of application for certification.
Education and Work Experience
Candidates must satisfy either the Option 1 or Option 2 eligibility requirements for education and FM work experience. Internships do not count toward FM experience.

Preparing for the CFM exam
Because every facility professional develops experience differently, candidates may be stronger in some FM knowledge areas than others.
A useful first step is to review your experience across the 10 CFM knowledge areas and identify where additional preparation may be needed.

Preparation courses and resources are optional and are not required for CFM eligibility.
Maintaining your CFM
The CFM is valid for three years.
Credential holders maintain their certification through continuing professional development and recertification requirements established by IFMA.
This helps ensure that the CFM continues to represent current professional competence as facility management practice evolves.
